Tips on how to survive the power outages

I guess most of you who are reading this had thought to yourself at one point in time what is going to happen, or what are you going to do, if the power went out for a long period of time.  How are you going to cook, have light, get hot water to shower or wash the dishes, etc.

The demand for energy in South Africa is growing more and more every year but the supply is not keeping up.  Soon we are going to have the same situation, that happened in January 2007, but on a more regular basis.  The power will be cut randomly (Load Shedding) to ease the burden on the National Grid and we will be left in the dark.

  • Now in 2008 the situation has gone from BAD to WORSE with much more load shedding on a daily basis.

The purpose of this website is to inform South African Citizens on how we can use less energy, recycle and save some money in the process.  If everyone just do some of the points mentioned on this website it will make a huge difference in the amount of power that is used in the country, and it will ease the pressure on Eskom and the amount of energy they have to produce and supply to us.  In turn we will have less or almost no power outages in the future.  You will also help to reduce CO2 emotions into the atmosphere that causes Global Warming.

We must start to think green and independent.  We must not rely on the National Grid for all our power needs, but start converting to Green Energy sources so we can carry on with our daily tasks, without to much inconvenience, when the power do go out.
